Daphne and Vera Correll are twin sisters who share a love for textiles, shapes, and colors. Their fashion collective Correll Correll focuses on experimenting and inventing new processes to make sustainably produced textiles and garments. Their designs are the result of their lifelong shared play with circles, squares, and triangles and the reinterpreting of traditional forms of craft. At the core of their enterprise, is the drive to redefine the relationship between maker, designer, and wearer. 

Founded in 2005, they have textile studios based in New York and Berlin. Their entire collection is exclusively made in their own workshop or in collaboration with other New York City based manufacturers. They are using organic and recycled materials  with an experimental approach to traditional forms of production. 

We asked how their separate, foundational practices inform the designs for Correll Correll.

Daphne: "I studied photography and design during my studies focused on the representation of architecture. My approach has always been interdisciplinary. Combining structures, surfaces, colors, and shapes--balancing functionality and form and placing it in a contemporary context is where I like to put all my focus on."

Vera: "My educational background is in Art and interdisciplinary design, I received My BFA at the Art institute of Chicago with a focus on fiber and material studies and photography. Prior to that, I studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in the Netherlands, in their very conceptual fashion and textiles department. I find that this influences how I approach sustainable strategies in fashion systems and materials innovation for Correll Correll."

For three days--May 19-21, or while goods remain, we are excited to host an edited collection of tees and kids-wear by these two talented women. For a while now, we've admired their work and couldn't be more thrilled that they've agreed to indulge us. You can learn more about Correll Correll here.

While the shop has been closed for a bit, we've enjoyed scheming up a plan to host our colleague Amanda Knorr of Knosen Antiques.

Knosen is an online antique shop based in the Boston area with a focus on antique European pine sleigh beds and English furniture. The shop is a celebration of antique pine furniture and functional pieces with a beautiful history and long lives ahead of them. Each piece is an heirloom, carefully selected in England before making its voyage to New England. Amanda will be filling the shop with favorite finds and one-of-a-kind pieces. We can't tell you exactly what will be in shop, but the images here can provide the 'gist'.

It's a shop takeover and we couldn't be more excited to have you come through and learn about Knosen Antiques. And let's admit,  it's much for satisfying to see these pieces in person. As there will be larger items of furniture, local and not-so-local deliveries can be arranged.  We hope to see you!

Our annual holiday event is especially important because we'll be donating a portion of our weekend sales to Rosie's Place, a local organization whose mission is close to our hearts.

Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women's shelter in the United States. Located in Boston, their mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives.
Today, Rosie's Place is a multi-service community center that offers women emergency shelter and meals, and so much more: a food pantry, ESOL classes, legal assistance, wellness care, one-on-one support, housing and job search services, and community outreach. Here women will find support, opportunity and the tools they need to make a new start.
Rosie's Place relies SOLELY on the generous support of individuals, foundations, and corporations and DOES NOT accept any city, state, or federal funding.

Erin Heath, the creative force behind Forêt, joins us again to create her magical wreaths of fresh and foraged materials. Wreaths can be picked up at Pod December 11-12th. Erin will be on-hand at Pod Saturday, Dec.11th making a few extras. We recommend that you pre order . Orders close Wednesday, Dec.8th at 1pm. 

We'll have some freshly baked holiday cookies for sale from our talented friends at
Breadboard Bakery. Speaking of bakeries, we're so excited to welcome       
Polka Dog to the party. They'll be at Pod on Saturday, Dec.11th from 11a-3p with the best, all-natural treats for your canine & feline friends. They're made right here in Boston! 

Do not forget the RAFFLE!! You know our raffles are pretty great and this year won't disappoint. Anyone who makes a purchase at Pod this weekend can throw their name into the 'hat' to win.
