Koishiwara Shallow Bowl

Koishiwara-yaki is a continuation of a style of pottery produced in South-Western Japan. This style of practical forms and conservative decoration came to the fore during the 18th century and truly emphasized functionality and daily use by regular people. Today, these forms and their functionality stand true and seamlessly mix with any modern repertoire. The pieces we offer here are still hand-thrown and hand-carved by only ten potters--still, in South-Western Japan. Each piece is unique.

This 'shallow' style is perfect for an individual salad, pasta, hearty soup. It also suits use as a sides serving bowl.
