the Alice B. Toklas cook book

$52.00

This book is considered Toklas' true memoir, written after the death of her partner, Gertrude Stein. It features traditional French recipes, as well as some recipes from the US and other European countries. The recipes are arranged in the order Toklas tried, and cooked them, and include asides about the people and places she knew. The book is as much of an autobiography as it is a cookbook, in that it contains as many personal recollections as it does recipes. The most famous culinary experiment is a concoction called Haschich Fudge which became a sensation in its own right.

This vintage, paperback copy, was published in 1961. It is a final sale.
