Shopping. Fundraising. Join us December 7th & 8th! 

Many of you know the drill, but if you're new to Pod, WELCOME! This is something you don't want to miss. Our annual holiday event is especially important because we donate a portion of our weekend sales to Rosie's Place, a local organization whose mission is close to our hearts.

Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women's shelter in the United States. Located in Boston, their mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives.
Today, in it's 50th year, Rosie's Place is a multi-service community center that offers women emergency shelter and meals, and so much more: a food pantry, ESOL classes, legal assistance, wellness care, one-on-one support, housing and job search services, and community outreach. Here women will find support, opportunity and the tools they need to make a new start. 
Rosie's Place relies SOLELY on the generous support of individuals, foundations, and corporations and DOES NOT accept any city, state, or federal funding. 

So what's going on besides making a dent in your gift lists?
You can count on fragrant paperwhites, potted up and just waiting to be gifted. Erin Heath of Forêt will be crafting her amazing wreaths to add warmth to your home. Offered in 16" and 22" sizes, you'll need to pre-order those. Whimsy Floral Studio will be providing us with lovely wraps with mixed seasonal greens--perfect for your weekend eventing. If anything, it's sure going to smell wonderful.

Join us Sunday, October 6th from 1-4p as we welcome Josh Pierson of Papa’s Catch Salmon.

Based in Southborough, MA, Papa’s Catch offers sustainably-caught, wild Alaskan sockeye salmon. Harvested in Bristol Bay, Alaska, which boasts the largest and healthiest wild sockeye salmon run on the planet, Papa’s Catch takes pride in providing a sustainable product that nourishes individuals and communities alike. 

We're welcoming Eugénie Torroella of E&M Books Saturday, September 14th. A NYC based stylist, image consultant, and neighbor, Eugénie will offer a variety of fashion mags, photography books, and look books from her collection/other venture, E&M Books. 

You're going to find items mainly from the 1990’s to mid 2000’s. Some of the publications included will be: W Magazine, Paris Vogue, Italian Vogue, Self Service, V Magazine, Purple Magazine, The Journal and Another Magazine. Books on Juergen Teller, Robert Mapplethorpe, Wolfgang Tillmans, Jack Pierson, Marc Jacobs and Martin Margiela among many more.

We're hoping for a beautiful Fall day and if that doesn't happen, we'll arrange a rain date. Hope you can come through.

Sherry Olsen was born in Los Angeles and grew up during the Jimmy Carter ’70s. Her father was a carpenter. Both her mother and grandfather were latent artists who encouraged and championed her art. Rather than going to art school, she traveled in her late teens and throughout her twenties, learning on the road. She picked up printmaking in Hamburg, glass work in Paris, and metalwork in County Kilkenny, Ireland. She eventually settled in Northern California, where she now lives and works.

Her work has been described as that of “a child who knows what they are doing.” She loves Art Brut, folk art, and the art of children. She works across a variety of mediums and thrives on the cross-pollination between them. Her work is widely collected by art lovers around the world.

We first became acquainted with Sherry's work through her surface design collaboration with Fog Linen Work. In 2009, at our shop in Brookline, we showed and sold these printed linen goods alongside Sherry’s other work which included small works on paper and sculpture. It was a wonderful small exhibit. This past February, we made a point of visiting her in Berkeley where we pulled together the idea for a new show. It includes painted plates created for Pod, one-of-a-kind works on paper including mixed media and collage, and sculpture. 

This exhibit will run in-store & online, May 15-31.

Community Cooks is a local organization that connects caring volunteer cooks, the human services sector, businesses, civic groups, schools, and faith-based institutions to form a dynamic, growing community with a common goal: to feed our neighbors in need and increase their ability to thrive.
